Temporary and Periodical Jobs: Work outside the Employment Relationship or a Disguised Employment Relationship

Temporary and periodical jobs represent a specific form of engagement under Serbian labor law, intended for work of a short-term or intermittent nature performed outside an employment relationship. However, in practice, the misuse of this contractual form may create significant legal risks, particularly where it is used for jobs that are continuous, systematized, and part of the employer’s regular business activities. In such cases, the engagement may be reclassified as disguised employment.
