In late September, the business activities of a large number of coal and metal minerals mining companies were suspended by the Government due to the failure of the relevant mining companies to comply with their mining area reclamation obligation.
Unless the relevant mining companies belatedly comply with their outstanding reclamation obligation, they may well eventually have their mining business licenses revoked. As a consequence, the reclamation obligation and the implications of non-compliance with the same have suddenly become “hot topics” in the Indonesian mining industry.
