Exhaustion of IP rights and parallel trade: UK+ regime is now permanent

23 May 2025

Overview

the UK Intellectual Property Office has published an update on the issue of exhaustion of IP rights and parallel trade confirming that the 'UK+ regime', put in place post-Brexit, will continue to apply on a permanent basis. This means that IP rights will be exhausted when goods are placed on the market in the EEA and can therefore be parallel imported into the UK.
